2017 Bob King $5,000 AMTA Scholarship Recipient
Rachel Cohen of Columbus, Ohio is the recipient of the 2017 Bob King $5,000 AMTA Massage Therapy Student Scholarship!
As a mother and caregiver, Rachel’s primary passion is pediatric massage. She is particularly interested in providing massage therapy for children in need and their families, as well as working with caregivers to provide tools for passive touch. After her husband’s stroke in 2014, Rachel also became interested in the role of massage in the rehabilitation of people with traumatic brain injuries. She is now a member of the Patient Caregiver Advisory Board at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where she is working to establish a funded touch therapy program at Riverside’s Neuroscience Unit. Once licensed, Rachel plans to attain a massage therapist position at a healthcare facility with pediatric and family-based clientele and volunteer at OhioHealth Hospital’s Neuroscience Unit.
This annual scholarship, named after the late Bob King, rewards massage school students who strive for excellence and are devoted to the profession.
